2008 AVN Awards: The Oscars of Porn

Adult Video News (AVN) staged its 25th anniversary awards show January 12, 2008 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The show was swiftly paced and simply designed, with plenty of cable-TV-friendly movie clips, due perhaps to the fact that it will air on the Showtime network, “another giant step” for the awards, as co-host Tera Patrick pointed out.

Porn has gone mainstream, and producers are in a frenzy of signing up porn stars to tell all, teach all, expose all. Meanwhile, porn fans no longer have to hide their collection of naughty films, now we can display our smut with pride—and a smidgeon of arrogance. Hey, we were eyeball deep in porn before it became chic, right? Be proud.
