EROTIC LURE
The Erotica Readers & Writers Association Newsletter
_______
Dear Discerning Deviants,
Looking through my files, I discover that this is the fifth March that I have penned an Erotic Lure newsletter for ERWA. You might think I'd be getting bored, but that's far from the truth. I look forward to each month's site update with breathless anticipation. I start by closing the curtains, lighting a few candles, pouring myself a glass of wine, putting on some sort of haunting and seductive music. Of course I've dressed for the occasion, or more properly un-dressed, in silk or leather, see-through lace or a wisp of chiffon. Then I'll seat myself before my computer and slowly, focusing on every sensation, my heart pounding and my sex dampening, I'll open my browser...
My goal is that you should have as much fun as I do, trawling through the Erotica Readers and Writers website. So let's get started!
The March Gallery theme is Erotic Romance. William Dean's graphics will make you laugh or swoon, according to your tastes. Don't expect the tired old romance clichés from our talented authors. You'll find glowing aliens and reincarnated soulmates, but not a single instance of ripped bodices or washboard abs. We also offer a rich selection of other tantalizing tales, include a poignant historical piece and a smart, hot M-M story, not to mention a great assortment of flashers and limericks.

Entering the March Books for Sensual Readers section, I was like a kid in a candy store. I couldn't decide what to read first. If short stories turn you on, sample Rachel Kramer Bussel's collection DIRTY GIRLS: EROTICA FOR WOMEN, or one of Alison Tyler's latest alphabet volumes: I IS FOR INDECENT, J IS FOR JEALOUSY, K IS FOR KINKY, and L IS FOR LEATHER. Also worth mentioning is Lynsay Sands' VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER (though I have to say that the title had me giggling), Philip Kemp's naughty spanking volume BLUSHING AT BOTH ENDS, and Sydney Croft's new paranormal romance UNLEASHING THE STORM. (I favorably reviewed his first STORM volume last November.) In the GLTBQ category, don't miss Lynne Jamneck's collection of lesbian speculative fiction, PERIPHERY (which features an exquisite cover). Then there's "Captain" Jack Hart's TREASURE TRAIL, erotic memoirs about gay pirates. In the graphic novels section, we feature Véronique Tanaka's startling and original METRONOME.
These titles and many more await you:

Speaking of comics, William Dean's "Getting Graphic" column in the Smutters Lounge features an interview with Terry Nantier, one of the founders of the groundbreaking publisher NBM, which is responsible for bringing out METRONOME as well as Michael Manning's kinky visions and the famed Shadow & Light series. William also interviews versatile and prolific erotica/romance writer Tilly Greene. March finds Donna George Storey cooking up a column that features Japanese novels, winter vegetable soup, and crème de menthe blow jobs, while J.T. Benjamin is all worked up about Utopias (to which he says, no thanks!)
Ann Regentin devotes her "Pondering Porn" column to a thoughtful review of Cleis' THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO SEX AND DISABILITY, which she recommends to every one - currently disabled or not. Our regular reviewers have also been busy. Ashley Lister enthusiastically reviews BEST LESBIAN EROTICA 2008 and K IS FOR KINKY. Angelika Devlin gets wet over ONE BREATH AT A TIME. Rob Hardy offers a take on the non-fiction collection BEST SEX WRITING 2008 that really made me want to go out and buy it. Finally, I review THE NIGHT WATCH, latest novel by Sarah Waters, who wrote the outrageous TIPPING THE VELVET.
The Lounge stays open late:

I nearly forgot to remind you. Please, pretty please, use the links to Amazon and our other affiliates if you decide that you just have to have some book, toy, or movie that you see on the ERWA site. Every purchase you make via our links helps ERWA to thrive and grow.
Authors will find much to satisfy them in the March Authors Resources pages. Louisa Burton tackles distinction between "literary" and "popular" fiction, concluding that literary does not necessarily equate to quality while popular does not automatically mean pulp. Brenna Lyons offers an encyclopedic list of issues to consider when you are choosing an e-publisher. Amie M. Evans' column on GLBTQ conferences and literary festivals provides details and contact info for this year's Saints and Sinners and Golden Crown events, as well as lots of good reasons why you should attend. Ashley Lister is uncharacteristically serious in describing a personal encounter with inspiration in "The Write Stuff".

The ERWA Submissions and Guidelines page is full of exciting new publishing opportunities. The indefatigable Rachel Kramer Bussel is putting together a collection of "mile high erotica" as well as soliciting for BEST SEX WRITING 2009. There's a call for stories of casual encounters initiated via Craigslist, as well as three new gay anthologies, all edited by the highly respected Richard Labonte. There are many calls from previous months still open, including a fascinating e-anthology called "Maiden Mother Crone" from Drollerie Press, and Alessia Brio's next Coming Together anthology. In addition, the Submissions page features ongoing general submission guidelines from dozens of print and e-publishing venues.

The March Sex Toy playground features Anne Whidden's guide to finding and enjoying your G-Spot. We also offer a preview of "luxury" sex toys, top-of-the-line paraphernalia that just happen to be on sale right now at Adult DVD Empire.
Speaking of DVDs, March films are coming (in) like lions. Our Best in Adult Movies pages feature all the new releases. My March picks include "The Naughty Co-ed Caper", in which Best New Starlet Bree Olson and her varsity buddies go to extreme lengths to settle a gambling debt, and "All About Anna", a sensual tale from top Scandinavian director Jessica Nilsson. "Last Night", starring Stormy Daniels and Marcus London, is a sizzling story of a night of bachelor party indulgence that has darker consequences. In the Classics section, I recommend "White Lightning", a twenty-four-hour sexual odyssey starring Ginger Lynn and directed by Veronica Hart.

Inside the Erotic Mind this month, ERWA denizens ponder the question of why having an orgasm seems to clear out head congestion. Not as serious as some of our discussions, but amusing and informative nevertheless. Click on "Participate" to offer your own opinions.

Our March Website of the Month is Adam & Eve. Adam & Eve is America's most trusted source for adult products, and for good reason. In business since 1970, Adam & Eve consistently has the best selection of quality sex toys and adult movies at competitive prices, along with an unparalleled reputation for accountability, excellent customer service, free shipping and free gifts. Whatever it is you're looking for you'll be sure to find it at Adam & Eve.
(Actually, I can personally recommend Adam & Eve; I've bought many toys and films from them. They've also been in the forefront of defending Americans' rights to privacy.)
Well, my candles are burning low and it's time for a refill on the wine. Meanwhile, my darling husband has settled in the armchair across from me, leering at me and asking every ten minutes whether I'm done yet. So I'll leave you to explore the site on your own, while I go reward DH for his patience.
See you in wet, wild April...
Salaciously Yours,
Lisabet
