He used to ask: "When do people ever burst into song in real life?" I used to answer: "Wouldn't it be great if they did?" (And in fact, singers do this, even when they're not "performing".) Your analogy with sex scenes is a great rebuttal.Jean Robertahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08805088081675965859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396437919069310850.post-13631271575267731362016-02-19T09:45:39.435-05:002016-02-19T09:45:39.435-05:00Thanks, Lisabet!

The tunes from South Pacific are so catchy, I'm not surprised you're singing them. I sing them often myself.

I'm interested to read your post next month.

Thanks,

XanXan Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00623784573764350842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396437919069310850.post-52242214674841350102016-02-18T22:45:11.379-05:002016-02-18T22:45:11.379-05:00Fantastic analogy, Xan, and very clearly articulat...Fantastic analogy, Xan, and very clearly articulated. I also love musicals. But I have to admit, I haven't even heard of most of the ones you cite. (They're obviously recent. I'm still back singing tunes from "Gypsy" and "South Pacific" LOL!)

I especially like this comment:

"Like a showtune, sex is better when it’s complicated, even if it appears simple on the surface." I was going to write something similar for my ERWA blog post this month, entitled "Simple Lust?", about how far desire is from being just an animal instinct. Something else came up, but I'll probably talk about this next month.

Thanks so much!

Lisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396437919069310850.post-60901348716666476052016-02-16T09:06:47.057-05:002016-02-16T09:06:47.057-05:00This is great!
